How long have you been a member of Sequoia CrossFit? 

Just over a year.

Had you done CrossFit before joining? If so, for how long? 

Not at all.  I have some cousins who did CrossFit in Santa Cruz and I always thought it was kinda of intense.  I was right, but it’s been great.

What inspired you to join Sequoia CrossFit?

My wife was looking to train for a job and needed to get back in shape.  She found Sequoia and I came to intro class and was hooked. The Community here makes it so that you don’t ever want to leave after a WOD.

What is your favorite WOD and why? 

Anything really (yes, even box jumps).  That’s what I like about CrossFit.  No workout is ever the same.  And even if it is, it’s always fun competing against your previous results and getting a new PR.  I will say that Sunday WODs are my favorite, only because I usually get to come up with something awful.

What is your favorite movement and why? 

Deadlifts. It’s simple and you can move a lot of weight.

What is your favorite indulgence (type of food, drink, or….you know)? 

Anything sweet.

One year almost exactly.

Very first time.

What inspired you to join Sequoia CrossFit?

I was training for a job in law enforcement (which didn’t pan out) and wanted to up my game.

What is your favorite WOD and why? 

My new favorite WOD is Murph.  I won’t lie, I’m pretty good at all the movements which makes it fun!

What is your favorite movement and why? 

My favorite movement is the snatch because I’m not very good at it.  I enjoy the challenge and know that if I keep at it, some day I will master it.

What is your favorite indulgence (type of food, drink, or….you know)? 

Currently, my indulgence is peanut butter cookies.  And wine.  Sometimes together.

How long have you been a member of Sequoia CrossFit? 

Since October, 2018.

Had you done CrossFit before joining? If so, for how long? 

I had tried CrossFit a couple of times probably about 8 years ago. I always felt intimidated when I went so I didn’t stick with it.

What inspired you to join Sequoia CrossFit?

I had been trying to loose 10lbs for over a year and nothing was working. I was recently engaged and was doing boxing 3-4 times a week with my swolemate (Ilse) and just wasn’t seeing the results I wanted. I saw an ad online for the 6 week challenge and decided to sign up for it. I immediately liked the convenience of the gym, the parking, and Matt. Once I started seeing results, I liked it even more. I’ve honestly never felt more at home at a gym before. I appreciate everyone I’ve met there, all who’ve been beyond supportive of me. Special shout out to my 6am peps who put up with me when I’m at my best 😉

What is your favorite WOD and why? 

This is a hard question for me to answer since I’m not good at looking at the names of each workout. I can tell you that I usually dislike any workout with squats and female names.

What is your favorite movement and why? 

Dead lifts because they’re way harder than they look. I have to mentally prepare myself for each one since I have a tendency to curve my back. I also thoroughly enjoy hanging from the bars and rings, haven’t been able to lift myself up yet but I’m working on it.

What is your favorite indulgence (type of food, drink, or….you know)? 

Ice cream is my favorite, really any type- Gelato, Fro-Yo, Italian Ice. I just love all ice cream, except the healthy kinds. I’d rather not eat ice cream than eat Halo Top.

No.

What inspired you to join Sequoia CrossFit?

Honestly, structure and Facebook.

What is your favorite WOD and why? 

Mostly squats and wall balls. Love the weight lifting combined with cardio. The ones named after the girls were fun during the holidays.

What is your favorite movement and why? 

I love back squats. Makes me feel like my whole body is getting fit and stronger. 

What is your favorite indulgence (type of food, drink, or….you know)? 

Sundried tomato chicken and Mike & Ikes (lol).

How long have you been a member of Sequoia CrossFit? 

I’ve been a member of Sequoia CrossFit since Feb. 2018.

Had you done CrossFit before joining? If so, for how long? 

I had never done CrossFit prior to joining. I was just a meathead who occasionally did some cardio when I felt guilty enough.

What inspired you to join Sequoia CrossFit?

I had a friend who told me about the great time she was having at Sequoia CrossFit, and she convinced me to try it out. After the first class, I was hooked.

What is your favorite WOD and why? 

Any chipper WOD – They always look innocent at first since each exercise is pretty manageable, but within a few minutes you realize you’re in for a shitstorm.

What is your favorite movement and why? 

Clean & Jerk – It requires careful technique executed in a really short time, but it’s sooo satisfying when you’ve moved that heavy barbell overhead.

What is your favorite indulgence (type of food, drink, or….you know)? 

Food all day – If I’m not eating a burrito, it’s because I managed to spend Sunday doing meal prep. But then I still might get a burrito anyway.
