Memorial Day - Murph
On Memorial Day, CrossFit gyms across the country and around the world perform a specific workout in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.
This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. We refer to it as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.
After we run 1 mile, perform 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and run another mile, all while wearing a weighted vest, we will spend time together, enjoy a few cold beverages, a little BBQ, and each other’s company. Because that’s what Murph and so many other soldiers fought and died for. Today we remember, honor, and celebrate them.
Workout starts at 10 am, and we will hang out until everyone is done and all the ribs and beer are gone.

Teams of 8 (or 4 for ultra) spend 2 days, plus one star-filled night, out in the woods at Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort, where you’ll test your limits on trails that overlook sweeping vistas and views of Lake Van Norden and the Ice Lakes.
